Chief of Staff & Senior Vice President for Strategy

Established in 2009, Complete College America is a bold national advocate for dramatically increasing college completion rates and closing equity gaps by working with states, systems, institutions, and partners to scale highly effective structural reforms and promote policies that improve student success.

  • Provide strategic counsel on key initiatives to the President and other senior leaders within CCA
  • Coordinate relationships with the CCA Alliance of 48 U.S. States/territories Governor’s Offices and higher education state-wide systems on their college completion efforts.
  • Liaise with strategic partners to create and maintain collaborative relationships – Manage strategic communications
  • Partner with internal program teams to ensure alignment of strategic priorities, programming, fundraising, accounting, and operational functions.
  • Write online blogs and other articles related to contemporary issues facing postsecondary education
  • Make public speeches including keynote addresses and panel presentations regarding CCA strategies and foci
  • Lead multiple initiatives designed to create strategic clarity and long-term organization sustainability

  • Practical application, implementation, and scaling of Guided Pathways strategies at institutions throughout the nation.
  • Led CCA’s national 15-To-Finish strategy. Launched national on-time degree completion campaigns, yielding more than 500+ participating institutions.
  • Created and led strategies for minority-serving institutions, including the addition of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund into the CCA Alliance.
  • Managed the implementation of Purpose First, a Strada Education Network (USA Funds grant), to reimagine career exploration early in students’ academic major choice process.
  • Organized and led relationship with NACADA: The Global Advising Community to include advising best practice in the national college completion agenda. – Managed the Technology Seal of Approval selection and process to identify exemplar technical solutions that further enable guided pathways.

  • Coordinated strategic planning efforts that respond to University goals for undergraduate education.

Key Accomplishments

  • Retention efforts significantly increased the one-year retention rate (+3.2%) and six-year graduation rates (+6%) within four year period.
  • Proposal contributor and directly responsible for the implementation and assessment of a five million dollar Goizueta Foundation grant for the academic and leadership development of Latino students.
  • Collaboration with Student Support Services to design and instruct residential learning communities for African American males, yielding a 95% cohort retention rate.
  • Created a series of academic success workshops for students and parents to promote the Georgia State university-wide retention initiative.
  • Created retention communication flow via online social networking websites and podcasts targeting commuter students.
